Since 2020, Markus Burkard is responsible for the laboratories in Prof. Dr. Dr. Venturelli's Department of Nutritional Biochemistry at the Institute of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Hohenheim and established the Organoids and Animal-free Test Systems (OATS) unit within this group taking advantage of the well-established infrastructure offered by the Venturelli Laboratory that provides extensive expertise in the cultivation, testing, and evaluation of cells, tissues, and organoids. In addition, there is a long-lasting close collaboration with the Department of Internal Medicine at the University Hospital Tübingen, enabling access to tumor biopsies and patient material. Markus Burkard’s teaching focuses on the subject of drugs and nutrition as well as cellular biochemistry including organoids.
